Year 6 clean up the streets!

On Wednesday, Year 6 set out on an exciting adventure to clean up White City’s streets in partnership with an organization called Our Planet Needs You and Volunteers from the Masbro Community Centre in H&F. We set out to learn about the impact litter was having on our environment and what we could do to help. Santiago and Seoul were given targeted areas in White City such as Bryony Road, Wormholt Park, Bridget Joyce Square and the surrounding roads to try and collect as much litter as possible.

The Anti-Litter Bugs was launched in partnership with Kids Against Plastic who provided us with access to their litter picking collection app.

Wormholt Park collected 4719 pieces of litter in total 💚

Santiago = 2033

Seoul  = 2686

It’s worth noting that two groups in Seoul came across smoking areas outside people’s flats and the housing offices, which significantly increased their totals due to the number of cigarette butts collected. My team counted 354 cigarette butts alone! The children were incredibly surprised by our littered our area was. Please make sure you are placing all rubbish and waste in the nearest bin!
