A Wet and Windy day for the Wormholt Wanderers

What a game from both teams this Friday! On this soaking, dreary day in February the girls’ team held strong to a 0-0 draw. Evie unleashed a beautiful strike at the end of the first half but it was saved by Ark White City’s keeper. The girls were deadlocked the whole game with three more shots from Aisha, Evie and Lexi that were almost on target in second half. Well Done girls. Our Woman of the Match goes to Evie for hunting every single ball down and almost securing the girls their first win.

The boys were on another level today. The symphony of passes was almost Mozart-like. It was wonderful to behold. The link up play was solid. The brick wall defense of Sultan and Ilyas was impenetrable and our whole team was hungry for a win today. The boys won 1-0 with a strategically placed shot from Abed that found its way through the keepers’ legs and into the back of the net. With another assist in the back from K’Shon, the boys were hungry for a second. Our second (disallowed) goal game towards that the end of the second half. K’Shon chased a wayward pass from a team right the edge of the pitch and placed a low cross into the mixer where Ilyas(Year 5) blasted the ball straight into the back of the net. Unfortunately, the ball was out of play from before the cross. With an amazing display of sportsmanship, K’Shon admitted to this and the goal was stripped. A well-deserved 1-0 victory for the boys regardless. Our Man of the Match goes to Abed for a beautiful goal!
