SEND Unit

SEND Unit for Pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Opening September 2026

We are pleased to announce that our school will be opening a new specialist SEND unit for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in September 2026.

The unit will provide a structured, supportive environment for children with ASD, enabling them to develop communication, emotional regulation, independence, and learning skills while being part of our wider school community.

Our Approach

The provision will be underpinned by the SCERTS model (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support).

This approach focuses on:

  • Supporting the development of functional and meaningful communication
  • Promoting emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Using consistent, evidence-based strategies across adults, environments, and learning experiences

Teaching and support will be tailored to individual needs and aligned with pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Who is the unit for?

The SEND unit is for children who:

  • Have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and
  • Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

Placements will be offered based on a child’s needs and suitability for the provision, as determined by the Local Authority.

Admissions

All admissions to the SEND unit are managed by the Local Authority.

The unit is commissioned by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF). Parents and carers who are interested in a place should speak with their current SEND caseworker, who will be able to advise on eligibility and the admissions process.

Important Information

  • Admission to the main school does not give access to the SEND unit.
  • The SEND unit has a separate admissions route and cannot be accessed through standard school admissions.
  • We are currently not able to offer visits to the school for interested families as the unit is being created and building adapted.

Further information

Further details about the unit, including staffing, curriculum, and transition arrangements, will be shared closer to the opening date.

For enquiries about admissions, please contact your LBHF SEND caseworker.
