The Valley – Specialist Inclusion Base

Specialist Inclusion Base (The Valley) for Pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

We are pleased to announce that our school will be opening a new specialist Inclusion Base called The Valley for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in September 2026.

The Valley will provide a structured, supportive environment for children with ASD, enabling them to develop communication, emotional regulation, independence, and learning skills while being part of our wider school community.

The Valley

Hammersmith & Fulham Council and the Governing Body of Wormholt Park Primary School are opening a Specialist Inclusion Base for pupils with autism, with a planned opening date of 1 September 2026.
This will be a 15 place specialist provision for children from Nursery to Year 6 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and need additional support with learning, communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation. In September 2027, an additional 5 places will be created.
The borough’s Special School Organisation Plan shows a significant increase in demand for local autism places over the coming years, particularly in primary settings. Establishing this Valley will allow more children to access the right support close to home, reducing the need for long journeys to schools outside the borough and giving families better choice within their community.
The Valley will provide a calm, well structured environment with specially trained staff, smaller class groups and access to on site therapies. Adapted classrooms, a sensory room, improved acoustics and dedicated outdoor spaces will help meet pupils’ social, communication and sensory needs. Children will benefit from specialist provision while remaining part of the wider school community, with opportunities to join mainstream activities when appropriate

Our Approach

The provision will be underpinned by the SCERTS model (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support).

This approach focuses on:

  • Supporting the development of functional and meaningful communication
  • Promoting emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Using consistent, evidence-based strategies across adults, environments, and learning experiences

Teaching and support will be tailored to individual needs and aligned with pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Who is the Valley for?

TheValley is for children who:

  • Have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and
  • Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

Placements will be offered based on a child’s needs and suitability for the provision, as determined by the Local Authority.

Admissions

All admissions to the Valley are managed by the Local Authority.

The Valley is commissioned by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF). Parents and carers who are interested in a place should speak with their current SEND caseworker, who will be able to advise on eligibility and the admissions process.

  • The Valley has a separate admissions route and cannot be accessed through standard school admissions.
  • We are currently not able to offer visits to the school for interested families as the base is being created and building adapted.
